Chad Hord Wins Pro Light Securing Points Lead at Bark River
Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., July 12, 2009— The Traxxas TORC series rolls into Bark River, MI for rounds 7 & 8 of the hottest off-road racing on the planet. Scott Douglas and the Amsoil/Kumho Super Team have an uphill battle to crack the top 3 in points in the Pro 4 after disappointing results at Crandon with a mechanical issue, as well as a crash from contact that put him a lap down. Ricky Johnson and the Red Bull/Bosch/Kumho Team head into the weekend leading the points chase in the Pro 2 class, while Chad Hord’s Boss Snowplow/Kumho Tires team is one point out from leader Jeff Kincaid in Pro Light.
Pro Light
Chad Hord had an impressive qualifying run and would start the race in 5th position just ahead of point’s leader Jeff Kincaid. At 3:18 pm with the Northern Michigan sun high in the sky, the green flag drops and immediately Chad Hord put his Kumho Tires to work. Within a handful of laps the leaders put distance on the field and would soon find themselves racing hard to the usual competition caution.
Hord is within striking distance running in 2nd position as the field gathers for the restart. With the pace truck safely off the track, the green flag waves and Hord immediately gets to work on leader Chris Brandt. The crowd is on their feet cheering on the hometown favorite while Chad sees the opportunity to make a clean pass on Brandt taking the lead for the final laps. The checker flag comes out and Chad Hord wins Pro Light and takes home another trophy for Kumho Tires while securing the points needed to once again take the top spot in the championship points battle.
